Dead Beat (The Dresden Files, Book 7)

Dead Beat - Jim Butcher My #9 Favorite read of 2013

An Exciting 5 Stars

This is the first of the Dresden Files to get 5 Stars from me. I have come to terms with the fact this series didn't go in the direction I had hoped. That aside, I have been enjoying them for what they are, adrenaline infused, bad-guy destroying, urban-wizard adventures.

Dead Beat takes weaves a more sinister and darker tale than the previous books. Thankfully, the vampire wars are not at the forefront in this story and we are introduced a wide array of new baddies. Additionally, Harry finally decides to (partially) change his ways and fight with other people. This gives the series a nice breath of fresh air. The cowboy shtick was getting a bit old.

The 7th installment of the series is without a doubt my favorite of the series to this point. The action is non stop and the characters and twists and turns are exciting and engaging. My interest in the series is renewed!
